Check out BMW's latest addition to the 3 series family, this is BMW's most fuel efficient car they have ever produced, but yet they claim to have not compromised on the legendary BMW driving experience or comfort.
On closer inspection the new 316D, comes equipped with a four cylinder 1,995cc diesel engine, producing only 118g/km of CO2 emissions, truly BMW's greenest car.
The 316D's 1,995cc engine is connected to a six speed manual gearbox, the engine is putting down 116BHP and 260Nm of torque at 1,750rpm. Acceleration time of 10.9 seconds is claimed for the 0-62 test and BMW claim the car is also achieving a top speed of 125mph. Overall these figures suit BMW's environmental 3 series.
How fuel efficient is this new car, well figures of 62.8mpg are the official numbers or 4.5l/100km. To obtain these figures, BMW insist that the no compromise has been made on the comfort or the ride for the occupants of the vehicle, continuing the long line of BMW's "Ultimate Driving Machines"
Based on the CO2 emissions of 118g/km, this 3 series falls into the motor tax band A, that’s only €104 a year in motor tax, for a 3 series salon.
BMW plan to release this vehicle into the wild, here in Ireland and the UK, in September 2009, priced at €37,310 and £23,330 respectively.
